Honey BBQ Pork generally refers to Hong Kong-style barbecued pork, a classic Cantonese dish that is deeply loved for its unique sweet and salty taste and overflowing fragrance.
The key to making honey-glazed barbecued pork lies in the selection of ingredients and the marinating process. Usually, fat and lean pork (also known as “plum meat”) is used. This kind of meat is tender and not greasy, and tastes excellent after roasting.
When marinating, add barbecued pork sauce, honey, soy sauce, oyster sauce and other seasonings to the meat strips, mix well, and put them in the refrigerator for marination to allow the seasonings to fully penetrate the meat.
When roasting, preheat the oven first, put the marinated meat in the baking tray, and roast until the surface is golden and crispy. During the process, you can brush honey several times to increase the gloss and sweetness. After roasting, the honey-glazed barbecued pork is bright red in color and fragrant. It is an excellent choice for rice or as a snack.
